Why It's SO Important To Invest In A Newborn Photo Session

It’s Easier Not To

I get it. It’s easier not to have to host a photographer in your home during the first few days you bring home your new addition. Other than the obvious, you're tired, sleepless and emotional, and it feels like a lot of work to have a newborn photo session. Not to mention, it’s an investment that you probably weren’t expecting to spend. Let me share with you why investing in a newborn shoot is worth your while, and not a hosting job, but an opportunity for you to relax, rest, and freeze these precious moments in time.

Investing In Details Of The First 10 Days

The details of the first 10 days come and go in the blink of an eye, and most likely, you won’t remember. Your days are long and your nights even longer. Your new precious addition is so very tiny. Baby makes the sweetest facial expressions, and you find you and your partner constantly staring in awe. Turning the television on isn’t even a thing anymore, because you can’t take your eyes off your new babe. The way they stretch their arms out and in, and then find their tiny fingers stuck on their face. You gently move their hand down from their face because you don’t want them to scratch their very new skin. You smile as you admire the way your baby looks for milk, through the action of rooting. You watch as they enter REM sleep, and smile ever so slightly, and then frown. You look at your partner, and laugh, and then look back at baby. You’ll only have a week or two of this unique newborn stage, and then it starts to change. You WANT to remember every detail, for they will never be this tiny again, not even next week. This is a fast and fleeting stage, that goes by in a matter of days. You are tired, delirious, over joyed, grateful, and you know you won’t remember these details unless you document them!

Investing In Family Heirloom

Trust me on this one, your future older child will WANT to see newborn images of themselves, and they will want to see you IN THEM. These nostalgic gems will be a family heirloom that are passed down through many generations to come. Your child will want to see their story. They will also want to pass their story down to their kids, and then their kids kids. This is literally a priceless investment. No price can be put on the value of documenting your family’s story. This is why it’s important to document those first few days at home with baby, showcasing when you became a parent, and all the details of your little one’s features. It is also important to document life as a family, and all the big milestones to come! Choose a photographer that you trust to capture the real moments, the raw and real connections, and the milestones you want to showcase. Spend the extra money to invest in quality, for you are investing in life long family heirlooms. These family heirlooms will one day be spread out upon your grandchild’s dining room table, with generations surrounding them, telling stories, tears and laughter, coffee and “remember when’s”. Its SO worth it.

Relax During Your Photo Shoot!

If you pick the right photographer to capture your newbies first few days, it will not feel stressful! I have been photographing newborns for 14 years now, and you can rest assured that I follow very important safety protocols that will give you peace of mind that your baby is in the best hands!! I spend a lot of time photographing the baby by itself, so this is your time (if you feel comfortable) to rest, relax and pump. You can do so in the same room as me, while I work with your babe, or you can feel free to use this time to be in your own space to relax and recover. I will let you know when I need you and your partner/ siblings for photos! Also, I bring my own water and snacks, so please don’t feel like you have to “host” me.
